It’s All About The Scarf

August 21, 2009

Hey Guys…It’s been a while. Now I got a suggestion from a certain person…Carol S. She wanted to know what scarves are in and out, and what she should look for. So here I am. Let’s get right to it.

First I should make it clear what is OUT. Those checkered two-tone square scarves with the fringes at the bottoms….are sooo out. They were big for a while during the school year, but now…eww. Do us all a favor and don’t wear it. This year is all about elegance, and bringing everything up a notch.

It's been done way too much.

It's been done way too much.

You don't want to end up looking like them...No offense

Now let’s get into the scarves that are in for fall. The following looks are all designer from fall 2009 ready to wear, so you’ll definetly see these looks around in a few weeks.

First off, how do you find the right scarf? Well, it all depends on your taste, and your body. There’s nothing I can do about your taste, but I can show you how to shop for your body.

First we’ll start off with the Unusual scarves.

This scarf is amazing...

This scarf is amazing...

This scarf is amazing. I really like the uniqueness about it. The cut is phenomenal, yet simple. It just wraps around her neck, and doesn’t devour her. She is not being eaten alive, which is something to look out for. This scarf is great for people with medium sized necks.

Would you look at that...

Would you look at that...

This is really great too. You don’t see too many people walking around with a scarf like this. This is also good for really cold days (wearing the right outfit), and really shows how high-fashion you are. This is good for girls with small chests, as it covers the chest. You should also have a medium sized neck to pull this one off, too. This is almost up to the point where you can be swallowed alive, so watch out.

Now let’s move on, and check out the triangle scarves. These scarves are actually square, but when folded create a triangle.

This is bad....(good)

This is bad....(good)

Now these scarves came from the ones I said not to wear, but are a step up, and way more elegant. They come in so many patterns and colors, and I really think fall is all about color, so go for it! You can wear these with any sized neck, including small necks. Just be careful, they don’t cover anything. They may not be the best scarves out there when it comes to warmth, but you make sacrifices to look good…right?

LOVE THE PATTERN

LOVE THE PATTERN

As you can see, I LOVE the pattern here. This is so elegant yet playful, and anyone can wear it. These patterns aren’t just for older people. These patterns are becoming more youthful.

Now we can talk about skinny scarves. I really like these because anyone can wear them, and they’re also easy to match with anything you put on, all due to it’s thinness.

Look how thin it is!

Look how thin it is!

As you can see, it really is thin. You can wear this with anything, and is the ultimate accessory when it comes to daily wear. You can just throw it on over anything, from dresses to shorts. GET ONE!

This is also somewhat thin...

This is also somewhat thin...

This is also somewhat thin, but not obviously thick. I just love this one in particular because of the cut, and the way it flows. You can only imagine what it looks like when she walks down the runway. This particular scarf looks great over layers, and is more geared towards somewhat keeping you warm.

There are many ways to wear scarves. You’ve seen some of them already in the pictures, but there are some other ways, too. First is the boring way. Well I shouldn’t say boring, but the usual way.

Seen this before right?

Seen this before right?

All she did here was throw it around her neck twice. I mean, it’s fine, and for what she’s wearing looks great, but it’s getting a bit old. Why don’t we try something new, like this:

It's not wrapped!

It's not wrapped!

If you notice, it’s not wrapped. She actually uses a small pin or brooch and pins it to a certain point, to give it a nice shape. I want to see more of this. I really think people should get more creative when it comes to altering accessories.

Another way is just the loop method, which is kind of old.

Classic Loop

Classic Loop

She made a loop and fit the ends through. Everyone does this. Try not to. It’s okay if you have to, but I want you to try other methods that you create. Since these scarves are really long, there isn’t much room for new methods.

A simple knot works wonders...

A simple knot works wonders...

You can always go for the simple knots, which look great on select scarves. I would only do this for scarves like these, that are originally square.

Well, now you have an idea of what you need to look out for. Have fun, and feel free to ask me questions if you need to. I’m sure there are many other scarves out there, so if you find something you like don’t hesitate to get it!

There is one more scarf I have to show you, and you have to give me your input! What do you think about this:

"That's a whole lot of look"
